The word is full of armies. Every country has one. The main intent of any army is to battle an enemy if need be. Most countries remain in a defensive posture, but on occasion , one country will go astray and attack another. The one being attacked must be prepared. No army in the world would ever send men and women into combat without giving them weapons.

We as the church have been in a struggle with spiritual enemies for the past 2000 years. We have had some success but most often we as believers have lost a lot of battles; simply because we have not been properly equipped, (not the fault of God), but instead because of neglect. In Ephesians 6:17 the word says “Take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God”. A sword is not only an offensive weapon but also is used to defend ourselves. That verse could be translated, Put a sword into the spirits’ hand by confessing the word of God.

He will help us fight, the psalmist says in Psalm 103:20 “The angles of the Lord take head to his word”. Why do angles excel in strength? They know how to confess the word. Remember II Corinthians 10:4 says “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God (spirit) to the pulling down of strongholds.”

The word of God is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10). How do we run into it? By confessing what the word says. A tower has a great advantage in time of war . Selah (to pause and ponder).
