Joseph was a highly favored Son of Jacob. The Lord had blessed Joseph as a teenager with dreams about his future. His family did not appreciate this young visionary and his message. Then one day they sold him into slavery.
He went through much rejection and betrayal by his own kin. God had shown in dreams about how he one day would be a very powerful man. He knew that his family would bow to him, but now he was a slave and was eventually cast into prison for something he did not do. For many it would be a time to be bitter and just quit on himself and God. The day came after much suffering that he would be exalted to the throne and his kin would indeed bow down to him. But, what would have happened if he yielded to his wounds and just gave up? Nothing, he would probably have ended up dying in that prison cell. When God promises us something in the way of a blessing or ministry, you can be sure of this one thing, the testing of fire will come. Job said “He knoweth the way that I take, and when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” It is time for us all to grow up and relish that there is a light at the end of our tunnel. Jeremiah 12:5 says “If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?” Don’t let go of your vision of what God is going to do. -Love, Pastor Owen
