April 1 - 28, 2001. This is a day by day record of a month on the road with Pastor Owen Johnson. I (Dion Todd) had the privilege of going with him and carrying his books as we ministered in various churches all the way up to Lake Michigan.

During this time I took pictures and some rough notes of the trip. Please excuse the quality of the pictures. Most were taken from the cab of the truck at 70 mph and through a windshield. Others were taken inside of churches without using a flash to keep from disrupting the service. But they should give you a small idea of what we saw out there and what life on the road as a traveling  evangelist is like. I made the pictures small so I could upload them from a laptop using hotel dial up internet connections.

April 1: We left Loris SC for Greensboro NC at  3 PM. Arrived at 6:10 PM safely, only stopped once to check air in front tires. Checked in to the Holiday Inn express and proceeded onto the service at Omega Fellowship. Had 2 good services. Was a good anointed message and I counted 9 prophecies in one service and some healing as well.

April 1-2: We stayed in the holiday inn express off of exit 128 in Greensboro. Very nice place with pool and all, though to cold to use it. We are now already wearing coats.

April 3rd: We traveled on to Ruther Glenn, Virginia. Drove about 3 and half hours in a lot of rain but arrived safely. After checking into the hotel we drove another 46 miles to the Abundant Life church. There Pastor Owen preached a good message on the coming of the Lord Jesus, Not to get  you, but to manifest Himself  through you. He also presented pastor T.L. Hughey with his Dr's degree. The choir here was great even though they did not have a single musician.

April 3rd: This church was about 46 miles from the hotel in Ruther Glenn VA.

April 3rd: This choir was great. No musicians and most things a capella along with hand clapping. They really set the theme right from the start.

April 6th: Ruther Glen landmarks. Caramel church was used as Grant's headquarters on May 24, 1864 in the Civil War. There is a huge amount of history in the civil war in this area. There were many battles right here where we are.

April 7th, Washington DC: Greater Mount Carmel House of Prayer. This is a small church on the inner city of Washington DC. We were there for one service on Saturday morning April 7th.

Sunday Night, April 8th: Richmond VA: Faith Life Tabernacle International.  This was a beautiful church with a terrific praise team.

Sunday Night, April 8th: Richmond VA: This praise team was terrific. They really have the sound system together here. The preaching and praise comes through the sound system with speakers in the ceiling of every room. Even the bathroom. Everyone in the building can hear the preaching at all times. Also they did some songs I have never heard but were highly anointed. They had a flute player, Sax, congas, keyboard, acoustic guitar and drums and they really had it together.

Sunday Night, April 8th: Richmond VA: You can barely make it out but In the photo on the right Pastor Johnson is ministering prophecy to a hindu woman. This is an International church that ministers overseas as well and there were many people from Trinidad and Africa here.

April 9nth. Traveled all day today. Left Ruther Glenn Virginia and passed through Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and into Indiana. We stopped in Elkhart Indiana and got a motel room for the night.

Sort of a "Through 4 anchors from the stern and pray for morning" thing... Tomorrow we will make our way into Illinois and we have a service there tomorrow night. We drove about 11 hours and covered 650 miles. As we crossed the Ohio line we hit the worst Hail storm me or Owen had ever saw. Sitting still the noise got so loud you could not have heard yourself scream from the ice beating the truck and just when I thought the windows were going to give way it subsided.  Very strange storm. All total it lasted about 3 minutes.

April 10th. Left Elkhart Indiana for Freeport Illinois and arrived at about 12:30, A total distance of about 250 miles. We passed through Chicago and I got some pictures for you. When leaving we had to pay a toll of about $.40 I would have gladly paid $40 to leave that city... 

I grew up on a farm in the country. The pictures cannot describe it but I "smelled" the city miles before we actually got to it. It had the smell of motor oil and the smog hung low enough I could not see the top of a lot of buildings. I had seen part of this same area in the "Blues Brothers" and "Good Times" I think. Anyways, they say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is a million.
